People attest to being at least 18 years old when purchasing on my website. It is unreasonable to ask all businesses, no matter the size, to verify peoples identities. No detail is provided in the act, as usual. People (agencies/companies) make up guidance which has no relation to any act of parliament. Same for ID required for banking, no where in any act does it say companies have to see photo ID, yet many banks require photo ID as a minimum.

The exception is specifically for items like razor blades, which can be evidenced by looking at the pre legislation debate on Hansard.

That part of the act specifically regards having a bladed or pointed article in a public place, and the sub 3” exemption only applies to a folding pocket knife.

Agree it's completely ridiculous. Most thugs actually steal kitchen knives from shops that have them open display. It's an absolute no-brainer for knives to be mandatorily held behind the counter or in locked cabinets instead of legislating for a problem that doesn't exist.

What checks will the Post Office and Royal Mail put in place. They ask when you post but you can tell them what you want. The main Post Office here always ask but the little shop around the corner never ever ask.

I called royal mail this morning about another issue, but I asks the guy about the new rules coming in. He stated it was mostly about knifes and bladed items used in things like reenactment. Open razors were mentioned so I guess that a straight razor. No mention of razor blades themselves. He did say that sharp items can be sent if packaged in a way that royal mail staff are not a risk. Blades already come in a tuck so hopefully as long as we pack them well and safely they should be OK? We'll that's what I got from the conversation.

That is what I assumed and would seem to be the most common sense approach.

That was my take. Straight razors enclosed within scales are permitted, but not kamisori types
