Hey gents,

Just seen the new Rocnel GEM SE over on TSR, below is the info. Sounds interesting. I am very tempted by a modern GEM razor but will find it tough to choose between the ATT, Blackbird and now the Rocnel offering;

Available at Extra Shaving for pre order, about £110 before postage.

Upside down Andreas, posted the following translated comment from the instagram page;

"Google translate claims that one of the comments by Rocnel says this about changing blades:

Rocnel said:
The razor is placed on the side. The ball-bearing stainless steel tray in the head is fixed. The razor does not need to be removed for loading or unloading. It takes about 2 seconds to load the razor.

Hmmm... curiouser and curiouser...

Interesting design, but I thought Rocnel was working on the magnet version of the SE50.

Being turkish I'll give you my translating here :) for free lol
What they are saying is that use blade is loaded and removed by sliding in from the side. Of the head with a stainless steel ball bearing locking the blade in place. They report it takes only 2 seconds to load or remove the blade.

Based on looks [ odd to me ] I won't be rushing to buy one, lending pool maybe. But not rushing in to buy any
of the new ones, just because they are S/S or whatever, I have plenty of Vintage SE which deliver good shaves.Had a Shave with an ER 1914 and next day used a Brass General, apart from on the upper lip
the Shave quality from the 1914 was as good as that of the General.

I've enquired at yourshaving.com in Spain whether they will be stocking this alongside their other Rocnel offerings.
I'll post when I get an answer.

I wish he had actually loaded the blade sat on the table instead of it just staying sat there looking sorry for itself! Also interested how the razor head will dismantle...Looks intriguing, not 100% sure on the aesthetics, it's just intriguing!

The video was done by Murat, at Rocnel and sent to Phil at BoolGoose shaving. He just posted it. It seems that the blade slides in and there is a set screw on top that manages the sliding tension ( I think).
