Reminiscing

I'm sure I'm not alone.

I have donated many shaving goods to friends and family. Isn't it brilliant when they are being used and secondly fascinating to hear the progress; being reminded of great products that are easily forgotten.

Usually these products are solely used so the user does grasp a better idea of the qualities. Perhaps better than I ever would have, given my heavy rotation. Recently I was catching up with a few friends and a few items came up. The likes of cognac & cigars (mind blank forget the maker apologies, part of ATG), Merkur Progress, New Forest Chubby and several others.

Many of these items are quickly forgotten, however it's refreshing to hear that they are performing superbly and being enjoyed by another. Although I haven't bought much this year (shaving wise) others enjoying these products maintains that persistent voice in my head, newer hasn't been better for me.

I totally agree, we always move on and neglect the more affordable items in our den, i'm currently in the process of trying to convert my dad into using a de, i've started him off with a oneblade core, not a de, but better than carts, then once i see that he likes that, i'll then convince him to try my R89, on the subject of the new forest chubbies, i recently reknotted a chubby 2 with an Oumobrush 2 band Manchurian bulb, and it's one of the best handles/knots i've ever used for face lathering 😊

Yes...I gifted a friend a R89, Palmolive and Omega boar. He loves them. In the beginning, he did not have much patience for trying different blades so I had to be judicious with the small sample of blades, I introduced him to. He settled on Rapira Plats. The more razors I have used the more I have come to admire the evergreen classics such as the R89/D89, Progress, Fatip etc. Especially when it comes to weight, balance and daily shaving. If I am totally objective, I have also found, that newer is not always better.
