I had a schoolboy summer holiday project to photograph and record something historical, I chose pack horse bridges, they are often tucked away and hard to find. I can imagine that there are people who get pleasure from recording the places of old post boxes.

Especially when you think that the boom time for the postal service was 1840 - 1900 and most of the places that needed a post box will have been sorted out by Edward VII's time.
