Only one way to find outI wonder if it would be a job to strip it back to the brass ...
And the enabling begins!I've been shaving with the Pearl Blaze for two weeks now. I've used the venerable Gillette Silver Blue and Silver Star blades with it. I feel I know it well enough now to pass judgement.
I enjoyed every single shave with this razor. It's an absolute steal at its price point. Bear in mind that it's brass so it has some heft. I experienced no drag/suction with the head and had consistently nice finishes from 2 pass shaves including my trouble areas. It's definitely one to keep in the den. The handle pattern works for grip and it feels like a quality piece of kit in the hand. It assembles smoothly and the head covers the blade tabs.
I think @culcreuch was right when he said the Flexi has overshadowed the Blaze. A shame as this really is a good razor. Whilst no longer available from Connaught, it can be purchased from YourShaving.
A pity Paul doesn't stock them anymore, because at the price he used to sell it for, I think it could've become the new default recommendation instead of an EJ/R89 or a Merkur.I've been shaving with the Pearl Blaze for two weeks now. I shall hold fire on the purchase yet! I still regret the Flexi moving on.A pity Paul doesn't stock them anymore, because at the price he used to sell it for, I think it could've become the new default recommendation instead of an EJ/R89 or a Merkur.
Although, if it were me, the aluminium Lupo should be there as well.
The finish on mine is really nice. Threading could be smoother, but that's nitpicking.
I don't use mine nearly enough and I do get somewhat better results with other razors, so mine'll most likely end up on the BST, but it's a very good razor.
Very similar but possibly slightly more efficient for me. A Shark blade works amazingly well for me in the Blaze, very smoothHow does it compare to a standard D89 style head?
My thought, too.Very similar but possibly slightly more efficient for me. A Shark blade works amazing well for me in the Blaze, very smooth
