A question for those who bought the TI DB in the initial offering, what are your honest oppinions? I noticed that
@semajohn has sold his one at the end of last week, but can I ask others
@Ventastic and
@Holyzeus, for their oppinions, as well as any others members that also bought the razor? On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the most aggressive, how would you mark / rank the razor on a aggressive scale? Thanks for your answers in advance.
Take what I'm about to say with a healthy helping of salt. Personally, I've only had 3 shaves (and need more to really hone it in) with my Ti-DB and on a scale of 1-10, I find it to be somewhere between a 6 & 7 on the aggressive side. I've determined in those trio of shaves that the Ti-DB has a neutral and towards the guard cutting zone that for me works exceptionally well. Smooth, assertive without being too much and still being easy to maintain in that particular zone. Neutral and towards the cap I get a bit more blade feel that is not as smooth nor as efficient but, it's still not uncomfortable while simultaneously strictly off of the cap I barely get any cutting action. I assimilate the Ti-DB somewhat to the Timeless Slim .5 SS just only more docile and slightly easier on the skin.
Truth be told, everyone will paint a different picture and you just have to sift through the info you see and read and come to a guesstimated conclusion. I know, rather risky especially with high priced shaving tools these days. Additionally, every razor is designed to a specific set of specs that the manufacturer employs and those characteristics on said razor will vary for every single one of them. Some work better at a neutral angle, some at steeper and others at a more shallow angle of approach. Technique is a big denominator in the equation as well. Humans are fickle and we're creatures of extensive habit. We don't like change nor do we look forward to having to adjust to something new and begin the process of acclimating ourselves to it. Wet shavers are no different. I've read & seen Gents across multiple shave forums declare that if a razor doesn't perform or cut like their Gillette Tech, Wolfman, Fatboy, Timeless or your preferred tool, that particular razor is garbage, useless or deeply flawed. Granted, there are some razor manufacturers out there that just throw anything together to make a quick buck or quid. But, with these premium makers out there and those that have been producing razors for decades like Merkur & EJ, they will produce quality products with good to excellent tolerances as that's their stake in the business. Some will not like what I say but, the truth is the shaver many times is at fault because they fail to adapt and adjust to something new and would rather fault the tool than themselves for the lack of inability to improvise their shave technique and regime.
I believe it's a very good razor that will only perform better with time and I have barely any time with it. In the end the only one that knows if it will work for you is you. The best thing I can say is read thoroughly each and every shave report. Look for the why it did or didn't work not just the simple cop out of it wasn't comfortable, it felt harsh, or my skin felt very sensitive to it. Those answers are horses*** and are extremely vague with little to no detail on the explanation of the razors shortcomings for that specific individual. Due diligence my friend. Due diligence.
Good luck on your search...
