Open Comb Question?

I have concluded that I'm not a fan of shaving, I find it a chore, butdon't like having a beard either, so I'm shaving about once a week.
However, with my SB razors, they cloge up continuously on the first pass.
This may be a silly question but is there such a thing as a mild, non aggressive open comb razor, I have sensitive skin and only get on with mild, less aggressive razors.
So my thinking is to use an OC for the first pass, I've read that they don't cloge so easily and go back to my SB razor for the other passes, but is there such a thing?

Brian.

I haven't, are they available in less aggressive versions?
I don't own a dual comb yet but there would be all kind of aggressive levels. I am sure you will be getting a lot of information from members on this thread.

I am a daily shaver so use SB but every once in a while I use ATT S2(Open comb) and find it be okay for my sensitive skin, just perfect. You may try it..

1912 SE, can't be clogged unless you're shaving a wooly mammoth.

Open combs aren't clog proof, I have clogged them myself. Bar guard razors with big holes to let the slop go through are best, a pre-war, triangle slot Tech is more clog proof than your average OC, I've never clogged my early Techs.

An Open Comb will not solve your problem. If you have sensitive skin then you need a more aggressive razor and sharper blade. Less passes with less pressure due to knowing the razor/blade combo will cut effectively will cause less irritation. A good protective slick lather is the first thing you need, allowing the razor to glide better. I thought I had sensitive skin at first. It wasn't. It was my own poor technique. Please tell us what you are currently using?

Razorock has a nice mild open comb razor that is very very well priced. Their Old Type comes with a nice Bulldog handle that is stainless steel. The head is zamak but they are so cheap you can buy two and still end up paying less than an Ikon. And surprisingly the shave is mild. I have trouble shaving every day with most open comb razors but I could shave with this one every day if I had to. I shave once every two or three days. Give it a try.

That is a very nice razor, especially for the price, and mine is showing no sign of failure after about three years, but it will clog.

I am not sure on this piece of advice. I have sensitive skin and every time I have tried using my adjustables on aggressive setting, I get razor bumps, irritated skin and lot of rashes. Sharper blade and a good slick lather surely helps though.

Probably wrong angle, put more cap on your face. If you have the handle down too far you're scraping instead of shearing.

I've never tried to shaving a wooly mammoth, but I'll take your advice, thanks.
