Old Type, what’s your favorite handle?

What is your favorite handle to use when shaving with your Gillette Old Type and why? I’m looking to get a proper Gillette handle for mine as it came with an Ericcson handle. Love the Ericsson and the Durham Duplex, but want to get a “correct” handle for it I think.

EDIT-I also have a fat handle that came on a pre-war Tech.

Stay with the fat Tech or find a common bar, the Durham Duplex is great, but I would personally just keep the Ericcson. OLD type handle swaps have been around for as long as the OLD type has been, so any vintage handle is sort of correct.

Thanks gents. I’ve found that when using that small Ericcson handle I choke way up on it and hold it pretty close to the head. Made me think about trying that little steel ball end travel handle.

Sure it's not brass??? I've used my brass one (nickel plated) and it was fine, you don't need a long handle on a razor, less than three and a half inches for me. My EJ DE89 had three and a half inches so I made a new handle for it out of a 45/70 case.

I’m not sure at all! I just read somewhere that it was steel, but brass would make more sense right? I think I’m gonna grab one, especially if it has a little weight to it. I wanna to keep my shaving kit minimal, but I know I’m gonna try a bunch of handles before I settle on a few that I wanna keep. TobyC that handle you made is cool!

Sure thing. I came across your posts a lot over at another forum when I was researching which razors I wanted to try out and then quickly started to see posts that you weren't on the forum anymore. I like to be forum monogamous for the most part to keep things simple, and I'm curious as to why you chose this one to continue on. Sounded like a lot of folks appreciated your knowledge and opinions at the other spot as well.
I guess this question could go out to anyone that has abandoned the big or bigger forums and decided to stick around and share here.

The forum mods at B&B were born in hell. You will find many ex-B&B members on all the shaving forums. Whatever you post over there becomes their property.
