After 2 days without shaving, i have just shaved using the non-adjustable Gillette clone from Aliexpress using the included blade as i felt it would be safer to use a razor that is claimed to be more forgiving.

I shaved in the shower, under the hot water using a canned shaving gel.
First try shaved nothing so i've corrected the angle and then it shaved.

I have a red dot on my cheek, i've noticed it only when looking at the mirror after the shower.
I have cut myself at least once on the neck. it was felt and a light red mark appeared momentarily on the razor.
it was basically a 2-pass shave, in some areas i had to go over again.

The result is a very smooth skin, i'm very happy with the result. Frankly speaking, it's better than expected (smoothness wise) BUT.. it was irritating to my skin.
the skin of the neck is red and burning. the face skin has not turned red but it's burning a lot despite using aftershave which usually makes the skin burns go away.

is it the technique? is it the blade? why does it burn so much?

Edit: this is the razor i've used

Technique. If you're moving onto DE from cartridge you may have a tendency to apply some degree of pressure when really with DE it's all about angle and the lightest of touch. Pressure is not your friend, whereas with cartridges it has little to no detrimental effect and might even be encourage to engage the moving parts (pivoting heads and the like).

Thank you for the explanation. I guess i'll have to pay more attention to how much pressure i apply while shaving to avoid this irritation.
