By the way, I’d like the thank everyone for keeping this thread polite, I’ve seen threads regarding firearms go south quickly in other places. We seem to attract a better class of member here.

I have sort of discussed with myself about getting a gun throughout my life. And a few moons ago i got invited to a family friend's prefered range to be shown how to safely handle and pew his guns and when the first pew happened and hit the paper target i wanted my own gun since. He also showed me how to "gun-smith" the 2 guns i pewed.

Bears stand no chance against me if they're gummy or cracker ones which i think most cuntries have. I'm doing my best to rid the Right Coast of the USA of two devils but i am barely being noticed that i'm trying... and some extra reality was around us the other night that we found out 3 arrests were made and the "streets" around here the partiers went out-of-hand...

As one of my rants said "Ignorance of the law is no excuse". We have laws for order and peace in the US. It's the law that provides the basis for our behavior.

Laws also need to be enforced.

With that said, a moonshiner named Tickle once said "It's only illegal if you get caught". I loved the saying. But eventually, Tickle did get caught and it cost him a bit more than 40 days in the hole.

So as I live in Montana for a Year, during that time I have seen Wild Grizzley Bears in Wild, best advice is do not disturb. Have you ever seen a Grizzley, SpeedyPC? Or just seen a photo of a screen?

Yes, I have seen a grizzly bear in Montana when I was 9 years old, first time on US soil for a 2 weeks holiday in 1981.

I've also seen an Alaskan brown bear, which is the tallest and the biggest badass brown bear, against the grizzly bear.

The grizzly and brown bear have the largest paw size with HUGE claws, against the size of my own head.

The advice I’ve read is to make noise when walking in bear country as if they hear you coming they’ll avoid you, and if you do come across one don’t make eye contact and slowly back away from it. We don’t have bears here though, so I don’t know if that’s good advice or not.

Given that here a 12 bore is not considered adequate for humane deer hunting I wouldn’t fancy my chances with one against a bear.

It might be worth pointing out that, here in the UK, when folk refer to bears, they usually mean Paddington, Pooh, or, at stretch, Rupert.

My theory is that because I was a lone hiker, I was able to surprise four bear. I remember being surprised that I was able to come upon a Black Bear in 2019 as he/she was munching blue berries. I recall what Dwight McCarter had taught me not to run, so I froze. The bear also froze. It was a moment where I knew there was nothing to do, so I took a photo of the bear. The bears stance with its rear to me reminded me of how a cat will respond. I slowly moved on and that was the end of the story.

In life you have opportunities to make smart or dumb choices.

Have lived in many place with nasty critters that will hurt you bad, or killer you for sure.

Bear, Mountain Lions, Poision Snakes, Alligators. Learned at young ago to respect, and leave alone.

Let profession deal with danger.Recall a guy when living if Florida ran the The Miami Serpentarium, as good as he was with Snake, he still got bit by poison snake.

Use to Surf as a Kid, seldom did we hear of people in Water being on Shark Lunch Menu, today it happen frequently. Sharks attaching those darn Surfers.

Rifle is best, but 12 gauge can be used to scare one away with an overhead shot.

There is a big difference in the temperament between black and grizzly bears. What precautions work with blacks may not work so well with grizzlies.

Tourists enjoying boat trips on the River Bure, near Wroxham, were treated to the extraordinary site of the adult brown bear wandering around in the water, looking for a tasty fish supper. Photographs have been verified by the British Bear conservationist charity, Bear Necessities. Spokeswoman Lorraine Fisher, 34, said: “This is the news we have been waiting for. The return of a bear to Britain also shows our conservation efforts are working – clearly this adult female is thriving in the Norfolk Broads area.”
