I knew one also. he took his German Shepherd home and his children loved to play with him, they played hide and seek, the dog would tuck himself away, apart from his nose, when the children said 'Go Hide', the dog got very excited when he was found, he was very worried that burglars would make the same command.

Chris, that would come in very handy.
Some beggar's had it away with my wheelie bin. It's not that a neighbour's taken it in by mistake because we don't have any, someone has driven out to where we are on bin day, loaded it into their car and naffed off. We've reported it to the council but they were disinterested.

It was out to be emptied but could have gone at any time between us putting it out and getting home from work.
The thought does occur that it maybe went into the back of the wagon when they emptied it, it seems like pinching a wheelie bin would be a venture where the effort out-weighed the reward.

I have heard of this before, especially if the lifting mechanism has damaged the bin.
I am sure that being security minded there were no confidential papers inside.
No, we have a separate bin for paper and card and anything confidential gets shredded first. Having checked with the Mrs, the bin was removed from where it was parked after it had been emptied.
Am now looking into options for securing the replacement.

Years ago folks would have two metal trash cans in a little cart with wheels. As a teen, doing teen things, we would hang out of a car window and grab one of the handles and haul ass down the road with it and flip it over with glee!

Seeing this thread for the 1st time... my rant...
The past couple of weeks or so the house next door has been being done up to be an internet motel/hotel. The guys doing the work don't clean up the trash and the trash because of windy weather has blown mostly into the yard/property where i rent my room. I had a "talk" with them earlier this week "because of my disabilities, i can't safely get most of the trash". but i was told yesterday "the college boy that they hired" to do the clean up will be around today and/or tomorrow... We'll see...
The college boy was told to me and the other side neighbor/garbage man, as the neighbor brought up a couple of big pieces of "foam" probably from a tv box. That foam pieces are big like 5'-6' long, so they just ignored their trash blowing around for weeks i guess not caring of the mess their trash and wind has been making...
And a "healthier" me would gather up the cardboard trash and put it under/around the wood fence sections they have laying around to be put in that yard and lit it on fire. Up here paper/cardboard and food garbage can be burned if the property owners want to. So i would just say "the workers learned about the burning trash thing and did it during a windy day" if cops were called.
