Neglected items that surprise

I think most of us with a few decent razors which we like have one or more razors that get a little neglected, I know I tend to use my newer buys more than the ones on my shelf that just get passed by like a grown up puppy.
I decided today to use my Barbaros TR1 with a GSB and Wickhams Le Bleu soap. All apart from the GSB neglected items and what a wonderful shave they gave me. The Wickhams was stunning, great lather, thick and slick, full of cushion. That wasn't a surprise as it is a quality soap I just do not use it as much as I should in favour of quite frankly worse soaps. The Barbaros was a revelation too. Far too long gathering dust it had fallen out of use in the rotation and shouldn't have. What have you got that you have forgotten gave you great shaves?

Good timing Wayne a couple of days ago I blew the dust off some products I haven't used for some time. I pulled out my ATT S2, a very very early Beaudelaire soap from B&M as well as one of the first Shavemac brushes I bought with a 173 style handle. Excellent shave, easily matching up or beating newer offerings.

On the back of this I'm using all my older soaps this month, including some early Stirling, HTGAM chocolate bourbon and Grandstaff holy smokes. May pull out the Aleppo soap too. I also need to reacquaint myself with the ATT H1.

For me it was the Gillette Tech and the EJ89, both gave effortless shaves and excellent results. Both will be getting more of a look-in in future.

I gave mine to a newbie who thanked me and promply left the forum....Oh well it went to some good use, hopefully not on ebay the following day.

My O1 (Birth date) Gillette Super Ajustable Black Beauty. I gave the modern razors a rest for the day and decided to give this a run out - I am glad I did.

I mostly use my mongoose, but every now and again I'll dust off my AS-D2 or PILs, and go wow... Not too bad!

For me, it's the Gillette Red Tip. I was using an injector last week and thought that was smooth. However, the Red Tip is just as smooth but give me a closer shave.

Star DE ... the Tech Clone. It holds the blade closer and tighter than the Tech that it copied and permits a really close shave without fear of nicks or chatter induced irritation.

Yes I always revert back to my Gillette Tech when I fancy a change and it always gives a great shave but just cant seem to use it as my daily shaver.

After a food while, I took the PAA DOC Evolution Aluminus for a spin. For me, it requires riding the top cap to get a nick free shave. Of course, after the first pass I realised my angle was too steep, but that was a little late by then, so my face feels a little tender now. And I used a shim to help prevent blade flex. Should have made a shim sandwich.
Still, a very good razor. Fun to use. Great for buffing. I'd say it's nicer that way.
The other wares used in the shave were a Shark Chrome, Godrej, APShave co. 22mm faux horse hair (lovely brush that one), Pitralon AS.

I have never found a Gillette Old or New I really get along with but a New SC with the fat handle was pretty nice so I swapped a Fat Tech handle onto an Old style and it to was pretty nice. It was still not as pleasant as my other Gillettes but far better than with the old Ball End handle. The surprising thing is I love a Ball End Tech, maybe even more than a fat handle Tech.

Next I'll try a fat handle on a New LC and see if we get along better.
