Just had my first shave with the La Faulx + plate yesterday and damn, I’m still smiling about it. I'm always nervous trying something new but was excited for this as i waited a long time. Did the usual Prep, proraso preshave and shave cream, took it slow, and holy crap it just glided. Zero tugging, no pressure needed, and the shave was ridiculously smooth. Closer than I usually get without the usual post-shave burn or razor burn spots.
My face feels smooth even today. I was expecting at least a couple nicks or irritation since it was my first go with it, but nope. This thing just worked.
Things to watch for: It is heavy in SS. For me that is a plus because i tend to use to much force when its a light aluminum razor.
The Negative: hard razor for under the nose and goatee lineup. I assume ill find my muslce memmory here as i use it more.
The Positives:
I have the ++ on the way. Cant wait to compare.
Also i used kai mg guarded 5th use. I was previously using the shield which i still love as well.
My conclusion - This is a special special razor. It will never leave the den unless my kid borrows it and never brings it back! Its an absolute must own in my books!

- Forgiving geometry: the + plate has enough mild character to be very error-tolerant, great for tricky areas like the jawline where angle consistency is harder to maintain. (this does not include under nose unless its just me and my lack of skill)
- Reduced irritation risk: less blade exposure means less chance of mechanical aggravation on reactive skin, which is meaningful for your cheeks and jawline
- Longer shave sessions: the milder feel lets me take my time and refine without the plate punishing any lapses in technique.
- Good for frequent shaving: if you're shaving closer to the 1 to 2 day the + plate handles lighter growth comfortably without feeling like overkill.
- Every time you use a new blade its going to feel like a completely new setup. As we know AC style blades make a huge difference to the performance of these razors. Looking forward to trying P 30 next when it arrives.
