Today I got around to finishing the Passat.
Wash, and clayed last weekend, but rain stopped play. Snow foamed this morning, and machine polished with Maguiars Ultimate Polish. 2 coats of Wax Planet Shield Of Dreams. Delighted with the result. The car is 9 years old, so will never be perfect.

Water behaviour when it rains should be great

Lots to learn I guess! I always assumed that the wax added extra depth, but I guess if the sealant is as good as you say, I'll not need it. I'll check out there detailer too as I just use the the Optimum No Rinse at the mo...
I find a wax does add an extra gloss and depth, though it’s a lot of work for the final extra 10% so to speak.
i use Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax on top of Avalonking ceramic.

I would recommend looking into ceramic coatings. I put CQuartz UK (two coats) with CQuartz Gliss topper (one coat) after I spent about 7 hours compounding and polishing, and it’s nice to have a super hydrophobic layer that really brings out the shine. Plus, I think I spent $100 for the products on amazon, which is cheaper than the $1000+ the local retailers charge.
That is, of course, unless you prefer waxes (many do). Fusso makes amazing waxes.
