In my neverending quest to convert every male friend I have to DE shaving I've tried to convince an old friend of mine to start shaving properly instead of using canned goo and expensive silly cartridge
razors. He thinks it's nonsense but I've found his weak spot. He likes design stuff, minimalististic, practical and clean. Bit like a mix between the Swedish coolness of IKEA and the minimalistic ways. He liked the looks of the Hone 15a,

Are you talking in japan specific or just anywhere? The standard razor is similar but is reportedly not as good. I will the say the standard can be purchased with a cool stand. Not really minimal but a nice japanese razor I love is the Feather as-d2 very good razor and can also be purchased with a nice lil stand.

As an alternative to the Hone and probably shows where the designers got their inspiration from........I give you the (Merkur) Futur.

Difficult to beat perhaps, yes, but also difficult to beat pricewise, in the wrong sense. I thought it was hard to come by, but see that it's indeed available from http://www.pils-rasur.de/rasierer/118nl.html?___store=english&___from_store=deutsch - 225 EUR for the polished. A beaut, it is.

Edit: come to think of it, I'm looking at a Timeless which is about the same price. So...
