LASSC BBS 1 razor !

So just saw a couple of these going on ebay for crazy money!

One on there for $1000/ £800!
Not sure what to think..is it the the weird underground economy of reselling or pragmatism. There is no way I would pay that for one (or a Wolfman) but each to their own.
Having said that I have spent a fair old whack on this shaving malarky...so who am I to talk.

Anyway, wondered what you gents thought?

I have a limit to the price I'm willing to pay for a razor. I have never actually put a number on that limit, but I know the Wolfman and BBS1 are above it if bought from the vendors, let alone these eBay ones.

Damn shame as they seem like nice razors..... But not THAT nice (IMHO).

As someone who owns a BBS-1 and have pretty much concluded that's it's the DE razor that works the best for me - I'd still say that $1,000 for it would be too much to pay. Having said that...$1000 for some people is what $100 is to some - so it's almost impossible to say if it's too much for a certain person to pay especially since the demand is so much higher than the supply (I believe John at LA Shaving has closed the waiting lists).
If you can afford it, want one and it gives some level of happiness - buy it. Who cares, you can't take neither razor nor money with you.

If I were to sell mine tomorrow, which I'm not, I would probably expect to get $5-600 for it looking at what they tend to go for. It's not a $1000 but it's still a lot of money for a razor.

I wonder how long it will take for some devious little monkey to realise there's a big market for 'knock off' counterfeit Wolfmans???

Hopefully not, but if they can really actually be sold for this price you have to wonder.

The one on UK ebay should go for anything up to £1000.00 . I have to admit I would not pay £1000 or $1000 that some have fetched.
Like DB I own one and like the razor so (at the moment) it's going nowhere.
Like Wolfman razors demand has outstripped supply by a large margin and if people have the money the value will remain high.

The BBS-1 is King of my den, but I was able to trade for it with a kind forum member for some unused unobtanium I had in my vaults. $1,000 would be too much of a stretch for me.

Reminds me of a story about one of the Hunt brothers(I think Nelson Bunker Hunt) who was holding a press conference in the 1960's when the AFL and the NFL were competitors. A reporter asked him what he thought about his younger brother Lamar losing one million dollars(which was a lot in the 1960's) on the AFL that year.
Nelson replied: "At this rate, he'll be bankrupt in a thousand years."

Anyone with the capability to reproduce a Wolfman is probably more interested in making their own razors. Being blacklisted and boycotted from the shaving community for copying another manufacturer's razor probably isn't worth the short term profits.
