Knot size Question...

Gentlemen, Everyone! I've started to get requests for 28mm 2-band Manchurians in addition to the 26 and 30mm knots I currently stock; so what do you think? Yes? No? Fan? Bulb?

I've used plenty of 26mm knots and I like them, would I try a 30? I'm really not sure but I would try a 28. It just seems a better step.

30mm way too big for me. Willing to try 28mm but 26mm seems the sweet spot. Knot shape, well there's a YMMV point in shaving. I reckon it all comes down to preferring looks as opposed to what's better for what purpose.

We all have our personal prefrences and mine would be a 26mm fan shape knot with a 48mm loft not to much splay good backbone without to much scritch, I must admit to being a very big fan of the Shavemac Silvertip two band.

I'm with Jamie regarding the fan shape - it seems to hold more lather which suits me as I'm a bit of a glutton. Regarding the 28mm size - if there's a demand for 30mm then that tells you something about the potential demand for an in-between size. Personally, I'm happy with my 26mm and would never go as far as 30mm but 28mm might tempt me - especially in 2 band.

Ok so bulb would be my choice at the larger size. But would you be offering any synthetic fiber knots? A good pull would be a synthetic with the manchruin colouring at 26mm or 28mm. Whoop

My favourite knots are 28mm. I love my Shavemac 26mms but that's probably because they actually measure nearly 28mm!!! Lol.

I like both bulb and fan, and choose which depending on the handle and aesthetics largely.

If you stock 26mm and 30mm, then you may as well get the 28!

Go on.... You know you want to!

An unequivocal yes from me, Brad. If available I'd go for 28 in your Manch 3-band. (Though it's the 2-bander up next for me.)

Makes sense to fill the gap and my own preference would be a fan shape but bulbs are popular too. You do make lovely brushes, sir.

Sold of both my 30mm way too big on the face, felt. Like I should be applying blusher or something Add the manchurian style hair and it would eat soaps.

My sweet spot is 24-26mm width and 48-52 loft depending on knot shape.

I have one of Brad's 30mm manchurian fans and wowee it's superb! I do prefer the larger knots , 26mm would be my minimum.

Thanks for taking the time to weigh in on this, Gentlemen. You've been a big help, I assure you. To that end, I've asked my knot maker to quote on 28mm 2-band Fans and Bulbs--and to throw in a quote for 24mm Fans as well. These knots are pricey; so I need to be careful with capital outlays. But these seem like a good bet. It might take 4 - 6 weeks to get them, but I'll let everyone know as soon as they come in.

As far as synthetics go, I had some demand for them when Muhle/EJ came out with their STF, but then several ended up collecting dust until this past spring, when one fellow bought the remaining stock. If anyone really wants one, I can always special order a knot.

My 26mm fan is about my limit in size but I would think the nature of a bulb knot might suit the bigger sized knots.
