Knife sharpening system

Used the Work Sharp kit for the first time yesterday and it mirrors what UKRob has said. I will say that it took quite a while on the low grit hone to establish a good bevel at the desired angle. That's not the fault of the kit only an indication of how poorly I did in the first-place free handing it on a bench hone. It should be easy to maintain the newly set bevel in the future using the ceramic plate.

I know there are many members on here who keep their kitchen knives up to scratch so I’m looking for advice and guidance on a foolproof system for my Global knives. I already have a good selection of stones but lack the skills to freehand sharpen large knives so I would appreciate your thoughts on the various mechanical systems available. If you have some idea on price that will also help. Thanks in advance.
You can get a guide for chef knives , sort of clip it on and naturally keeps the blade at the correct angle whilst running it along the stone, just don’t use an electric sharpener on globals you’ll knacker them, or put them in a dish washer 😬, still have my globals even tho I binned off cheffing, do you get the global knife callous/blister on your right trigger finger: mine always did

The clip on guides aren't necessarily as versatile as they might seem to be, as the resulting angle somewhat depends on how broad the blade is.

In any case, Rob has already bought a sharpner that should do quite nicely.
