Is preshave oil bad for synthetic brushes?

I remember reading somewhere that oil is not good for brushes. Is that true for synthetic ones too?

Pre-shave oil is fine with synthetic brushes. I never had a problem with it when I used to use badger, boar and horse hair brushes either.

Not at all.

In some cases, if you overdo it with the oil, the lather would be more difficult to build if you face lather, so in this case try bowl lathering instead.
