Intro - want to set up a database to collect barbers still using straight razors

Jens

Noob
Hey hey,

I am working at DOVO in Solingen, and want to set up an online database with the (unfortunately) few remaining barbers still shaving with traditional straight razors.

There are not many left unfortunately and finding them is not an easy task.

The ones left should be promoted in my opinion, and I have already put together a database, but there are definately more which I don't know yet.

Goal is to create a map (e.g. google maps), where people can find them in every country around the world. In Germany for example, there are maybe a handful left, not more. In Italy there are a bit more, as in the US.

Would love to receive recommendations on who to include!

Best,

Jens

I'm a straight razor user. In the UK, you will not find many Barbers who use traditional straight razors; they much prefer to use shavettes with replaceable blades. Another reason is health and safety, and blood-borne transmission viruses such as Hepatitis and HIV. Another factor for anyone who may be thinking of using a straight razor is maintenance. You need to be able to hone, strop and look after the razor. I cannot see many people wanting to take up using straight razors personally.
