It's one of my all-time favourite books. I like a lot of King's work but mostly his early to mid stuff, including the three you mentioned. I also like Dean Koontz and Richard Laymon but, IMO, King at his peak is aptly named.
I do like Stephen King too and after reading all the major novels, I’ve found some of his newer work and short stories to be just as good too.

I think one of my favourites has to be Misery and / or Needful Things. I’m also a big fan of that small town group of friends theme he does which has been used so many times in other films and books like Stranger Things and Super8.

I have read a few Stephen King books in my time, the obvious favourite being The Green Mile. To throw a spanner in the works, I didn't expect it, but one that I really did enjoy was Delores Claiborne. The book is superb, the film not so much.

I have recently read and enjoyed Animal Farm by George Orwell. Although it is essentially an essay rather than a novel at a little over 100 pages it manages to cram in the human condition of politics, more specifically Communism and the idea that you should never trust anyone and if something seems too good too be true, it always is.

Moving onto my third Edward Marston. Nice and leisurely reading and also trying some of these. We have two copies of this so I borrowed one and had a go. Strangely addictive stuff.

Another Marston fan here! If you look further, he’s written a whole range of different eras and backgrounds.

Oh I forgot you might be a lurking fan Steve! Ive only done the victorian railway ones so far ( sure you approve) but I think I might try the WW1 stories next. I think he does another one too but can't remember. The library here has some of each and I can request them to be brought in too.

I absolutely love the historic aspect to the railway ones. The last one was in York and having been there and the Railway Museum - as I sure you have - is really nice for me. We holiday near Thirsk (not sure if I told you this) and so spend a lot of time in your neck of the woods. Last time we drove past on the way home I pointed it out to the wife and said that's where Steve lives and she gave me a right look! 😂 Was just after you pif ed the razor haha

Very best
Mark
