Hi folks,

looks like the Start and Taiga are getting all the limelight, so I figured a separate thread for the razor would make sense.

Looks can be deceiving, Lee.
I received mine in blue, my first aluminium razor, last week. As someone who loves the START razor, I can only express total disappointment in the Baikal. I've used it on all four plates and even on 7, it's ineffective.
I've since received the aluminium Karve and it puts the Baikal to shame. Thankfully, it was only $56.

I'm not an expert on the global enforceability of patents (or really anything involving patents), but I see a C&D letter in their mailbox in the near future. Blatant patent violation.

Does the handle feel good quality? I quite like the look of the handle (not so much the heads) and they sell the handles separately now

Karl, nothing wrong with the handle. It's grippy and comfortable to hold. With the exception of the tacky lettering on the top cap, the whole razor feels of reasonable quality....it's just a crap performer.

Hard to support companies that lazily copy and manufacture cheaper direct copies of a current model. It's why I stay away from anything Yaqi. That said, I hope Rockwell gets off its ass and stops producing these ugly injection molded razors. If Rockwell is unwilling to make a nicer looking CNC stainless razor with interchangeable, flipping base plates, then I'm okay for someone else to do so!

Oh, sorry, I thought you were talking about the aluminium Baikal.
Yes, the aluminium Karve was on sale at the end of last November for Black Friday. I recall they were listed for a week.

Was it ineffective as in not really shaving or too mild to get a DFS in less than, say, 3 passes?
