Hello everyone - been on the daily wet shaving merry go round for a very longtime, it was a chore that needed to be done, I guess a bit like putting the bins out for collection. No real thought, just shake foam can, apply to face and use my Gillette sensor 2 Excel. No finesse, just crack on - job done. In reality, I never gave myself that much time in the morning.
When going out in the evening I’d sometimes have to shave again - then maybe I’d take a bit more care.
So I’m pretty late to the DE shaving party, been at it a relatively short while and though I’m keen to learn, shaving no longer feels like the chore it used to be. It’s now a time when I get to be more thoughtful, yet relaxed at the same time. I’ve seen the consequences of applying pretty much 40+ years of poor shaving muscle memory practice to DE shaving - it’s not a pretty sight. These days, thankfully, the scenes of nicks and blood are behind me - I no longer need the alum block, but it’s always on standby, just in case.
I keep telling myself I’m not going to start collecting shaving paraphernalia and some days I actually believe it.
