Far left is the same wood as your’s will be and far right has the same knot only 2mm smaller. They looking stunning Graeme! I’m glad I’m on the list, I can wait to see mine when your done!
That’s yours but has the big Omega boar placed in just for effect. A fine Zenith unbleached boar will take up residence thereafter. Both great knots but at the moment I’m favouring the Zenith.Love the oak![]()
I’d love to see your work, sir.Very unusual design of shaving brushes. By the way, I also work with wood. And oak is one of my favorite species.
Oak got very unusual structure. Also I love walnut (first brush handle made of it). It looks even more noble and aesthetically.Lovely, how I do love oak.![]()
The easier way to that is to try and find ANY piece of walnut root, even locally. As far as i know, most Turkish gunstocks are made of walnut root wood. The problem is that a lot of root wood goes into veneer...Walnut is lovely: noble and classic. I’ve got a nice piece of English walnut here. Lovely dark and light contrasts with meandering blackish grain. I’d love to get get hold of some exhibition grade Turkish gunstock walnut. The sort that Purdy’s would use but it’d cost too much.
Yew is still probably my favourite of all. Pippy, flamed yew with pyjama stripes. Magical.
Very interesting about yew. Need to know more about this wood)Yew is still probably my favourite of all. Pippy, flamed yew with pyjama stripes. Magical.
