Thanks to @Aaron1983 i own the following razor



I'm blown away on how well it shaves, I get a much smoother shave when compared to my DE89.

From what I've been reading the handle isn't original. I think I need want to get an another razor, preferably a Gillette that shaves as well. So what are your thoughts? Thinking of a birth year (P1) super speed. But unsure if the Shave will be as good as the Tech. Anyone with any experience of both?

You can pick a Tech up on eBay for peanuts, just be patient.
Some of the fancier Techs, though, can fetch some daft money though...

If you like that, go older and look for a 'New' from the '30s. Essentially, the same razor, but open comb. Smooth and capable.

I found the SS too mild, ended up chasing it around my face trying to get smooth :thumbsdown: ...Far better (IMO) would be a fat handle flat bottom Tech (1940s, British made) easy to find for under £20 and as good as any DE I've used. If you're adamant on getting a SS/BB I would look for a shaver grade one first to make sure its suitable as minters aren't cheap.

Personally my favorite from that family of razors (kinda in order) are the black handle Super Speed, the post-war Techs (love both fat handle and ball end), then the long handle Super Adjustable, short handle Super Adjustable, earlier Super Speeds, pre-war Techs, then the Slim Adjustable and Fat Boy. The Old Style and New Improved simply don't make my list of enjoyable Gillettes.

Techs are great, I don't think they always get the credit they deserve. Yes, you need to be a bit careful with the angle but they shave really well.
