Thanks for the post and links. The only Eastern European soap I have tried is Barbus. It is a semi hard soap and works very well. A member on another forum gifted me a tub years ago. I just may have to try some of the others being mentioned in this thread.

That's put me off too. I could get known quantities like Speick or Proraso for that. I could end up with a damp squib like French Skin Bracer but at least it's only a few Euros.

Made in Slovakia, as well as the soap, of which I have 7 tubs. :-D
Maybe I could offer one for a passaround?


Also used a NOS Luch-2 for the first time this morning, lovely razor.

Czech Alpa products tend to be really good as well. I have a yet unused shaving cream to try out soon.

A pretty cool old advert for what appears to be some Svodoba style shaving cream/balm and a bottle of "Triple" Cologne which is still available today and is supposedly named after the three ingredients... Lemon, bergamot & nerol.

Yep, it's a scalloped closed comb. I'll try to post some photos later.
As for the shave itself, it's very efficient, with a bit of blade feel, but still feels rather mild. For me, it performs better than the Merkur 45, although it doesn't feel quite as mild.

I am tempted by the slant and one that looks like a Rotbart Extra-Mond, though.
