Interested to hear your thought, I get the feeling you might not like these. Which is first OC or SB?
I haven't shaved this morning, Jon, so the OC will be first, tomorrow morning.
I get where you're coming from with the aggressiveness, based upon Ken's initial impressions and my liking for blade feel.
Level 5 or nothing, for me, I guess. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Finally the Future fiction splash has been release in the UK many thanks @Fozzie Bear for the heads up. I was a part of Bart’s balm sample test, and this was in my top 3 in the bottles I was sent. It’s a great post shave balm and always the balm I go to if I’m feeling a little raw or irritated in any area. It’s inspired by Tom Ford Neroli Portofino. Can’t wait to try them all tomorrow.

Your Welcome Lee, I must get a bottle of the Future Fiction splash myself as I have the soap and love it.

I eventually managed to pick up one of the original 150 issue of the very first batch of rex Konsuls

on arrival I had a look at the underside of the baseplate that some folks seem to be annoyed with?

It simply bears perlage machine marks-

however as a machinist I appreciate and fully understand how the company has decided not to even try to do so!

as on either side of the flat machined central part of the baseplate
are 2 opposing and expertly machined slants ?

so to polish the central part -to remove the final machining process with any small buff
would partially destroy the accuracy of the pair of opposing slants
and thus affecting the accuracy of the razor in use?

the finish is similar to the perlage- finish and that is found on some of the cog gears in higher end watches etc?
so not at all affecting the quality and finish on this superbly machined and built razor

I have now had 2 shaves with mine

The first I loaded a new Russian made- Gillette platinum plus blade
I initially set it at only setting 2
after the first pass I upped the setting to setting 3

a very easy and only 2 pass bbs shave ensued
with zero irritation or post shave feel at all

today I upped the settings on the very same platinum blade to 3.5
and again the exact same easy 2 pass bbs shave once again!
for me this is by far the very best

and yet efficient adjustable razor of
all the ambassadors, taigas ,and rocnels that I have ever owned

next shave I will be bold and move up to setting 4
as have a feeling that this razor does not mind being used on a much larger gap than most of us would tolerate?

I ordered an opus opgress 316L s/s stand from Brian at Executive shaving for my Rex Konsul-
as already I had earlier modified the exact same stand with a larger peg-for my rocnel 2021 sailor and it is simply superb workmanship
with a polished finish to equal any wolfman gloss polish?

to me- it has much more character- and looks superior to the rather bland rex offering?
