Feather and Kai shaves

Mark with my ac/se razors I normally use Schick proline, I’m still getting used to the feather dx and will stick to the guarded for a little longer. I read that the feather proguards were a bit more rough. Enjoy your shaves mate 😊
Chuck sent me Pro Guards. When the DX MG needs replacement I will open the Pro Guards and give them a try :okay: It just may take a while :D

now that I’m thinking about it, maybe a Pro Guard in the SR!

Just as different guitars like different gauge and alloy strings (and that often changes over time, doesn’t it?), using different AC style blades in the differently profiled Feather and Kai holders is giving some interesting variations in shave feel. Each perceptibly reacts just like any other razor reacts when introduced to different blades.

Thoughts?

The Kai ProTouch MG on its #2 outing worked well today. Felt much safer than the Feather ProGuard. This clone is a first use today so pleased it went well. Will be interesting to see how long this blade lasts.

Was too scared to try and pull the head apart today on its first use but will try when I've used it a bit more.

I have the same copy- it does disassemble just like the original.

I've considered there are too many choices and our perceptions of those choices can affect our decisions to move forward.

If you didn't know there were three Feather holders or more than one or two Feather blades, if you wanted to learn to use a RBSR, you would adapt to whatever was available. You wouldn't think the SS is mild and the DX is less mild.

I had no idea there was but one holder, the SS in 2018. I used the Pro Guard and moved to the Pro Super not knowing it was wider.

Good point, but more to do with choice and availability.

I’m suggesting that the slightly different design these RBSRs causes them to react and respond differently when you change the blade to another variety.

Based on my years of playing guitar, the phenomenon is a repeatably observable result when changing string alloys and or gauges on an acoustic guitar. They sound and play a little (sometimes more than a little!) different when either variable changes. And now that I think about it, I should include brand into the equation. String alloys, gauge and brand changes all have an effect on a guitar’s sound and responsiveness.

Changing blades in these RBSRs seems to have a similar effect.

I could agree if going from a 7.5mm blade to a 8.4mm blade, but maybe not so much from 7.5 to 8.

I am not sure if I could tell going from a Pro Guard to a Professional with both being 8mm if blinded. I know I would not be changing my method to suit the blade.

Yes, alloys and string gauge makes a notable difference in both tone, playability, and volume.
