Ever Ready 1912 newbie questions

I finally got around to picking up an Ever Ready 1912 as I have been reading so much about them. I have got some blades already, I picked up the following blades:

GEM Stainless Steel
GEM Stainless Steel PTFE coated
GEM Carbon Steel
PAL Blue Carbon Steel

And of I have the Corrux blades that came with the razor, they look perfect.

So the questions are:

1. Which of the above blades do you recommend starting with?
2. If I wanted to try the Corrux blades is there anything I should be aware of?
3. I have read about shimming the newer blades, do I need to do this in the Ever Ready 1912, or should I just try out the new blades as they are?
4. Are there any other blades out there that you can suggest that I try?

Answer to 1:
The same blades I started with "GEM Stainless Steel PTFE coated"
I've always had great shaves with them. Up to 8 and over per blade.
Can't comment on any other blades, I'm sure others will.

Congratulations. You have a great razor.
1. The PTFE coated ones. The only ones I use..
2. The Corrux blades probably need honing first. By someone who knows what they are doing. Try one anyway.
3. Personally I find modern blades need shimming. I have explained why ↪here. You don't have to shim - try with and without.
4. Nope.

Thanks, great info on the link, I had never come across that before but I head read some of your forum posts on shimming. So far it is looking like the PTFE blades are the way to go.

Honing the Corrux blades seems like too much effort, maybe keep that for when I retire.
