De Vergule Hand - vintage

Back in the second half of the nineteenfifties, De Vergulde Hand was still solidly in Dutch hands and very proud of the fact that they existed fourhundred years and were the oldest soap-producer in the world. So proud, they wanted the world to know their soap existed at the time Piet Hein conquered the Spanish fleet.
Times are a changing: presentday policor #metoo SJW twitter society would mean the brand was bankrupt in half an hour after releasing a soap with Piets signature.

Wow how is the scent and performance compared to today's option?

Scent has diminished a bit, and I haven't lathered it (yet). Puck itself feels a bit creamier than presentday pucks.

I can speak for the new puck only.

It's like loading a shave cream, not a soap. The lather literally explodes!

PS I wouldn't use this vintage soap. I would keep it in the Hall of Shave box.
