Shame on you guys am I the only one around here thinking the design is stolen so buying is feeding a thief

Part of the thinking behind patents having expiration dates is to prevent monopolies, otherwise the only DEs would be Gillettes and the only cars with the three pedals and a central gear stick system would be Cadillacs.
Also, many improvements have come from embroidering the original idea.

Have any of you peeps tried the ones that take half-DE blades, by any chance?
AC-style blades are too wide for my liking, so I've been thinking about getting one of those.

I wouldn't bother. I think the half-DE versions are a bit of a gimmick. Snapped DE blades cannot, IMO, be clamped tight enough to offer the opportunity for a good shave. The AC-style offer that rigidity but of course, the width of the blades is an issue for you and im sure others too.

Oh, it works if there's enough space to fit it in the head. Pretty much all of my DE shavettes allow for it, but in some there's too much blade exposure.

Which one did you go for? I've only tried one half DE shavette, the "Vanta" - Blade is held very rigidly, with a decent blade fitted the shave result equals that of a Feather DX in all honesty but feels a bit lightweight/flimsy in use.

I just noticed - there's uneven blade exposure in the photos where the blade is loaded. Hopefully mine's going to be closer to even.

The razor has arrived. It's actually pretty well made and seems to clamp the blade pretty well. Not much blade exposure, but slightly uneven. Not sure whether it's going to be an issue. I'll report back on that after a shave or two.

There are Shavettes that take injector blades, either the Monsieur Charles or Mr C from Spilo of which there is a Sanguine clone. Or maybe the Hess Ezy...
