Going to respectfully disagree, I don't find one easier to use than the other.I personally would go for the Feather AC style because the technique is more similar to that of a straight razor. For me it's easier that to cut yourself with the kamisori.
Nisse ....I do agree with you to an extent. I do not know what the patent situation is regarding this style of razor...but I don't see Gillette chasing the multitude of manufactures who produce their own Tech razors. I have 5 Feather ACs and 2 Kai razors....one a Captain and the other a Captain Excelia. I dont regret buying them. I would think the opportunity to try this type of shaving at an affordable cost would ultimately increase both Kai and Feather Sales. Money will be spent if someone wants a premium product..but it is a large outlay if you are unsure.Shame on you guys am I the only one around here thinking the design is stolen so buying is feeding a thief![]()
It might work better for me since I started with straight razors and then after some time tried shavettes, the technique with the folding AC is similar to a folding straight razor. Shaving with the AC kamisori reminds me more to the use of my Japanese kamisori mainly the type of grip and the way to perform XTG passes.Going to respectfully disagree, I don't find one easier to use than the other.
I have tried all the Feather SS and DX. As mentioned above, the SS has a little lip which reduces the blade exposure. Not sure if the clone will be the same.
Pic shows from top to bottom, Kai Excelia, Kai Captain clone and Kai Captain folding. All are fitted with a Schick Proline.
To the naked eye, I would say the clone has a tiny bit more blade exposure. The Kai Captain and Excelia have slightly less blade exposure compared to a Feather DX. I would say the clone is probably on par with the DX.
I have added a pic with the caps removed. The clone is really well made and should last just as long as the originals.![]()

Like me. I couldn't afford something that I'm not sure it will work for me.Nisse ....I do agree with you to an extent. Anyone undertaking such an effort would or should be taking that prospect into account from the get go.So bargain is king but If I had made the effort to design and market a product and a copy/knockoff/clone/replica/counterfeit version showed up and profited on my work I would not be happy at all.
How would that justify profiting on my work?Anyone undertaking such an effort would or should be taking that prospect into account from the get go.
Capitalism requires no moral justification last I checked. Razor manufacturers have lifted designs since the beginning of razors, it's not something the Chinese invented. Did Feather pay Gillette for the Tech design when they marketed their DE AS-D2? Don't think so.How would that justify profiting on my work?
They charge a premium price.....and pick up the sales after users discover the system works....plus of course the consumable (blade) sales. I suspect they have already profited from their work due to their current pricing structure. Strange.......I have never seen comments regarding the CJB which seems to be generally acceptedHow would that justify profiting on my work?
You could buy 90 of these including delivery for the price of 1 Kai Captain Excelia excluding delivery (at current UK list)Well it's not a way to justify the copycat Chinese Feather-like clones (I'm sure it is something related with the cease of the patent as it happened before with Merkur Futur and its clones), but I wonder how someone can sell a clone ten times cheaper than the original....
