Kent have announced they are discontinuing their badger line and will soon be releasing an all new synthetic line.

There is a lot of pressure coming from PETA for shaving and cosmetic brush manufacturers to stop using badger in brush production due to the horrific badger farming practices in China.

Synthetic brushes have come a long way, we don't need badger. The videos of chinese badger farming on the PETA website show the brutality of the trade.

I'll be enjoying these over the next couple of days ...

I've had a few brushes from Haryali over the years and these came in as a pleasant surprise.

I had a black fibre brush from Edwin Jagger a few years back and it was a huge disappointment. These, I thought looked better and bought one in with the intention of pulling the knot into some else as I suspected the handle would be hollow plastic. It is infact a kind of stone resin! Heavy and sure-feeling in the hand. I loved it (the black one) so bought the white one as well. I think they also sell a really proletarian wooden handle one, as well.

In terms of feel, they are about as soft as PurTech if you remember that fibre. PurTech was supposed to be a competitor to Muhle's Silvertip Fibre, but it didn't come close - but, it did replicate something like Best Badger quite well. This fibre is about there. The backbone is down at the knot, giving a loose, free-flowing top half to three-quarters which can build up a delightful bulb of lather.

Been busy distressing my copper handle and its turned out propper cool, the picture does not do it any favours, it looks far better than the picture would have you beleive! P.
