Blades the cut differently...

I'm curious if this is just me, do you notice that some blades seem to leave different feel on the stubble than others? I don't even know how to quantify this, other than that there is a clear difference. Some blades feel it leaves a 'cleaner' cut than others, but also the stubble is more prickly as it comes back in.

One example would be Nacet vs Polsilver.

I, too, sense that the stubble differs after shaves, and blades are surely part of the equation both when it comes to smoothness of the shave and the feel of the stubble after. Razor and cutting angle are other parts. Perhaps even lather? And brush?

But yeah, almost as if it grows back at different speeds, though that can't be the case. What is more likely is that different gear leave a different cut surface on the individual strand of hair, e.g. a clean, straight cut; a more pointy or angled cut; an uneven, more torn off kind of cut etc. Sharpness, blade thickness and rigidity are relevant explanatory factors here.

Related question is why some blades are more comfortable than others. And why is x and y good blades for me and z awful; while x and z are good for you, but not y?

Incidentally, I rate both Nacet and Polsilver.

I also think it's the cutting angle but have no idea how to quantify it.

I was just testing Nacets and Polsilvers in a particular razor, and the same soap I've been using all month.

I rate them both very high and give great shaves, but this effect was quite pronounced between them which got me thinking.

Yes, I also agree with you.
Some seem to leave things more pointy for next time.

I feel like some blades (I think SEs ) make the stubble grow back more uniformly somehow.
So the growth is more even it feels like.
Or perhaps they cut more square. As in parallel to the face.
Or something.

I does defy logic and I am puzzling over some kind of formula, probably to find that none exists.
I get on best with Voskhod and Personna so far. It would make sense that other shavers that these also rate highly with, would be able to give a guide as to what to check out and what to avoid, yet this is not the case.
As I build my list of “go to” and “avoid” I might look at materials and coatings to see if this offers any clue.
It’s far to early in my journey to come to any conclusions as yet.
