The general advice is to take your collected old razor blades to a recycling centre and deposit them in a scrap metal bin.

I haven't done this so far but I would guess that you should not put plastic containers in with the scrap metal and nor would I be happy about pouring in 100+ razor blades into a bin that someone else MIGHT have to go through and sort.

I still prefer the idea of using a metal container to store used blades and then clearly label that container when it is time to recycle.

Where I'm from, I'm told that this is the way. I got a blade bin when I was buying my first batch of stuff and needed to spend €5 to get free shipping. It says it takes 100 blades, but I'd say it'll take way more.

Get yourself a money box or tin, that doesn't require a can opener at all. It's 100 times safer around kids, and without cutting themselves.

I run my dead blades through paper shredder, and put in box with shredded receipts, letter etc. Tape shut, and send off with trash to landfill.

I still say, get a sharps container from your pharmacy/drug store and return it to them when full for safe disposal. Get another one while there and continue the cycle.
