Best soap made for wooden bowl

Same here. The shaving soap simply does not lather. Obviously the company doesn't care.
They must be doing something right, there are enough placing selling it. I just wonder how many people have been put off trying a more traditional approach by trying something like this.

I'd love to know what the repeat purchase rate is [emoji48]

Given that so many big reputable vendors sell it, and have done for some time, there must be quite a few. My mind boggles that anybody anywhere thinks it's satisfactory.

Both Trumpers soap bowl and T&H soap bowl have been poor in terms of lathering and performance. Though to be fair I haven't tried them for a fair while so perhaps they have improved recently. Penhaligons and DR Harris are seemingly the best..Floris has been reformulated and, though I haven't tried the newer version, many have noted that it simply doesn't lather.

Either no-one is giving these company's feedback, or the consumer is simply being fooled into thinking the lather they are getting is satisfactory. I've tried a few of the supposedly different formulations from the main culprits but I simply couldn't get anything I would even attempt to shave with. I used badger, boar and synthetic, I tried really excessive loading, everything I could think of really. Guys like Nick Shaves on YouTube have got the same results so I know it's not just me. It has frustrated me no end as it doesn't add up.

Definitely frustrating when a so called "premium soap" performs this badly especially regarding the price and reputation. I have had the same experience..attempting to lather with various brushes and water to soap ratios so it's definitely not just you.

I'll tell you what, contact Trumper's and let me know what they come back with! The reply I got was anything but premium either!

A good opportunity to give Cyril R. Salter solid soap a try. Inexpensive, made in the UK, available in 70 and 100g sizes and chocka full of lovely tallow.

I also have two of the Salter creams but the solid puck soap is leagues ahead in terms of cushion and glide.

It won't break the bank either.

@MPF9 ..your thoughts please?

I like this soap - the performance and scent are both outstanding.
Do you stand by this statement, Paul? Having used the Sartorial soap a few times now, it's miles away from e.g. Mike's in skin feel. It rather borders on irritation. Knowing that you are particular about your soaps, I am surprised this one fits your bill.

Where did you get this from @Acer89

I've seen non-tallow versions floating around too, albeit with slightly different weights
