Thank you. Further - can any of those mdc soaps be worth that money?
Definitely maybe :p:

Their fougere is one of a kind but if you're looking for perfume style scents such as Aventus you will be disappointed, MdC specialise in old school French soap scents (as confirmed by 1/2 French SWMBO, aforementioned fougere reminds of grandparents apparently :giggle:)

Performance doesn't get any better and it lasts for a very long time so it's actually quite good value once you get over the initial outlay.

The English Shaving Company (Edwin Jagger) has 15% off everything, which gives a total of 20% off when combined with the 5% new user discount. If you've been on the fence about buying some MdC or Pannecrema for example, now is the time

Beat me to it! I’ve just had the same email from English Shaving Co.

Martin de Candre Original is ~£36 delivered to your door. For 200g of soap with monumental longevity this is a great deal chaps.

Yes, I consider £36 for a year’s worth of top tier soap a solid deal.

Even if it is a world class soap, I wouldn't buy it. So expensive for my tastes. I don't think the price reflects the performance of the soap. Even if someone gave me for free a soap, I would ask for Panama Boellis or even a much cheaper one, like Declaration Grooming Icarus Base.

Alas, it'll only give 19.25% off, but better than nothing for sure

Then you are missing out on one of the truly Great shaving soaps. Artisans are nice with their funky scent profiles fancy names and graphics but for me cannot compete for the all around awesomness of the likes of MDC, Tabac, MWF, and DR Harris.

Just been to have a dabble, but all the scents that I would have tried, have sold out... Still an MdC virgin.

For me the answer is no. For me there is not enough of a difference in performance over Tabac to justify it for me. I have and use both. It may be different for you so you will have to try it for yourself. You have nothing to loose as MdC is an excellent shave soap in any event.

The thing is that I can find MdC Original for 34 euros.

But my top price for a soap is 20-22 euros.

I could easily buy a razor or a brush at a higher price though.

But that's just me.

So which are the top3 soaps you enjoy using Bob? Not based on the scent, performance based only.

Tough question for me to answer as I find most soaps I have tried more than adequate to allow me a decent shave. Add to that the fact that I do not like to pay a premium for a shave soap that is not greatly better than the rest of the pack. I like shave soaps that are high on the price to performance curve or simply put good value for the money. On that basis I'd say for me it would be Arko and Palmolive sticks along with Tabac. Plenty of people dislike at least two of those if not all three.

You really can't go by what a person thinks of a product. Your best bet is to try and get a sample to test for yourself.
