The thing is, I don’t know what those perfectly acceptable alternatives are if nylon is potentially even more damaging to wildlife. But I’m not trying to preach - I just think all of the alternatives are problematic, so I don’t feel like singling out badger hair as a problem. I don’t let it worry me - I use whatever brushes I enjoy.

The best alternative for crude oil derrived plastic is hemp derrived plastic. Ask your govenments why it's not done already, since Ford made a fully hemp derrived car body in 1937. Even fuel can be derrived from hemp.

Over 100 companies have agreed to stop production of badger hair brushes, of all sorts, there are terrible videos of badgers being beaten to death on China farms, including one where a worker used a chair leg to beat a badger to death.

Look at the PETA website.

Personally, I would like to see the end of badger hair shaving brushes and it is a poor argument to maintain the line of we have the freedom of choice.

It is a worthy and compassionate stance, but I side with those who make their own choice in possession of the relevant facts. Otherwise we would not eat if we are unwilling to tolerate any harm to living things (and I see no distinction between the suffering of animals and that of plants in this respect, which is a stance I think is as reasonable as any). You’ve got to judge how much you want the brush compared to how much you care about the badger’s suffering.
