The latter Paul, the handle is tightly fitted no give. The head rattles between top cap and bottom and IMO is getting progressively worse. I have put it through an ultrasonic cleaner and checked every part. I have also had PM of other members detailing the same issues (6 in total now). If I'm honest taking a £300 (approx) hit on the chin hurts. Anyway an expensive lesson learnt. Don't have the heart to sell it just to have someone else suffer.
Can you not send it back to them Nishy? It clearly isn't fit for purpose.

I'll be honest chaps, I was offered this opportunity, but then the manufacturer instructed publicly when asked about others rattling, that it was not an issue. I lost trust at this point and thought I would just take it as a lesson learnt. I didn't want to cause a situation. To be fair it still shaves, just not as well as it did before. As you rightly say it is defective and although fit for purpose, it shouldn't deteriorate within such a short period of time (never dropped or mishandled). Anyway I have very kindly been offered a possible solution by a kind member on ATG. Really appreciative of the community we have here.

I suspect BullGoose didn't want to create huge numbers of returns by publicly admitting there's a problem. I'd still send it back and give him a chance to correct / replace it.

Yep my thoughts precisely.

I'd be so tempted to have the metal lab tested. Its either low quality metal and not all steel or it had micro metal fissure from the production. And then not picked up on QC's. Sad really as I really do love the look of this razor.

Pack it up and send it back. At the very least they should investigate and offer you a replacement. If that's the same then it is time to get your refund. Do not underestimate the power of shaving forum reviews good or bad. They seriously affect sales of any razor. I doubt Bullgoose can afford bad press.

Thing is Wayne, without causing a storm in a teacup, Bullgoose own a shaving forum, so it's a bit like cat and mouse, where the public are generally the mice.

Ok mate. I respect your decision.
Don't get me wrong, it is going back, but unfortunately for me with the proviso that it is probably my last purchase from them blah blah blah... Obviously this is not the case for everyone.

Out of interest which forum is theirs?

I'm currently in possession of the pass around RX and it does rattle but not when loaded with a blade.

Two shaves down and one more to go before it's passed on. I'll submit my shave reports after Christmas.
Yep this is what I found strange as mine initially didn't rattle when unloaded but does now.

Thinking about the design regarding the rattles:
The inner / lower blade holder / head must be very, very slightly shorter than the upper / outer head otherwise the gap between the handle and the upper head would be the thickness of a blade. Obviously this wouldn't affect the shave but it wouldn't look good on a $250 razor. Maybe it only starts rattling once the dovetail feature has loosened a bit?
