ARTISAN SHAVING SOAP LEVELS

Hello, I recently received three tubs of 4 ounce shaving soap tubs from a very popular artisan. However, all three tubs are inconsistent on volume. In fact, one seems not even halfway filled. I don’t know if I’ll do business with them again, as I feel a bit cheated. Thoughts?

Depends entirely on whether there actually is 4oz in there or not. If you’re getting considerably less than that, yeah that would make me feel cheated too. Easiest way to be to weigh them and see.

Was it one of the UK artisans? I had this recently as well, purchased two tubs and one looked much fuller than the other so I weighed them and it turned out the fuller one was actually way over 4oz. Often artisans use oversized containers which can look half full (I'm an optimist, see.)

Lol! I like your positivity. No, this is from a VERY popular American artisan who makes other shaving items besides soaps. HINT: It’s NOT Stirling.

The soap is sold by weight, not volume. Do either of them contain less than the advertised 4oz? If not you’ve not been cheated and IMO have no cause to complain.

I’m fully aware that soap is sold by weight, and not volume. This is why I posted this: to see if anybody has experienced similar. This might just be a fluke, meaning tub was overfilled and I got lucky.

I suggest contacting the artisan. Mistakes do happen. You might get an apology and some compensation.

I can't speak for that vendor but from my experience with one of the popular UK ones they use over-sized tubs to allow easier loading. They have also stated that the soap shrinks as it cures so they over-compensate for this. I've had tubs with varying levels of fill but they've all been above the stated weight, ie all of them I got a bit extra it just sometimes varied as to how much.

Honestly, I'd weigh the tub that should set your mind at ease.
