For the next 30 days I'm going to use:
The same razor.
The same blades.
The same soap.
This may prove an impossible task.... However, recently I've come to the line of thought that I change too much around, often never using the same razor more than once every two weeks and as for soaps..
I think it's time to try a bit of consistency, I've tried everything else!
I'm going to be using a Fatboy loaded with astras and MWF.
With MWF I have a sneaky suspicion that used it everyday will lead to better results, as the puck always remains hydrated.
Wish me luck....
Greg.

If anybody else would like to try this, feel free to post on here. A bit of support may be required!
Hi Greg
Been doing this for a while now. Actually doing it more than month. I found I was just buying stuff but that is understandable as I was getting into DE razors about a year ago. I bought 3 razors, 2 brushes, 3 bowls, more than 5 different types of blade… I tried various soaps and got inconsistent results. For over 6 months I’ve been using one razor (Executive shaving Outlaw Elegant), one brush (Yaqi 24mm purple haze synthetic), Bic platinum blades (I bought 100 and have 30 left) and have used each soap/cream until it’s finished.
Results
1. Technique has improved which I’m sure of as I haven’t changed anything else at the same time.
2. ARKO soap is great for me. Proraso green soap doesn’t work for me it went in the bin. Tabac soap is good too
3. Elizabeth Earle cream in a tube (an Unopened previous gift) is lovely.
4.Creams I like more than soap but still like soap.
5. Face lathering is really good, quick and convenient. It beat bowl lathering to start with.
6. My Xmas present Suribachi bowl makes bowl lathering (with finishing on the face) the winner but not by much.
7. TOBS. Coconut cream is my favourite so far.
8. Proraso blue cream in a tube works well but doesn’t smell great.
9. pre shave oil does little to nothing. Exfoliating face wash before the shave likewise.
10. Goodfellas Smile Shibusa soft soap was nice but the bowl was only half full as the bottom of it was thick plastic. It felt heavy when I bought it. Disappointed at how quickly it went.
I think I’m going to stick to only changing one thing at a time. It has made me consider buying stuff far more carefully. If my current razor is capable of damage, if I’m not careful, more aggressive isn’t the answer and, as BBS still isn’t my whole face some days, milder probably isn’t the answer. I’ll try some other blades next. Very probably Personna platinum. Tried them in the initial flurry. Liked them too.
