AFib/Cardioversion

Went into AE a few months back due to my back not behaving as it should (slipped disk). Got hooked up in the ambulance to check vitals and promptly rushed to hospital with 190bpm+ heart rate and AFib was diagnosed sharpish. Not a very happy to find this out of course, hacing found out this whilst still being relatively young (46). Have since found out my family has a history of heart problems, thanks genetics overlords... Now on meds etc etc, with a view of cardioversion via shock therapy in the next view months.
Anyone here in the same boat? If so can you share your experiences?

No personal experience but my mate at work has had the shock treatment a couple of times now. For him it hasn’t fixed it from the first attempt, not sure if that’s just him though. He can feel when it goes back to AF, rings the hospital and they book him in. On the last attempt they said if it happens again he will get an op. My wife has sat in, in a nursing role on a few of these procedures. Procedure wise you’ll be fine.

Yeah, it can be hit and miss on that, then next option is ablasion, but will see how things pan out, cheers.
Not good news Alex of course but they've diagnosed it and now are looking to fix you. Good luck with the shock therapy, hope it helps.
I am literally the anti poster boy for this, no real symptoms from my end (in hindsight, that has changed a bit but still nothing major) so I was a walking timebomb. Very grateful to have been diagnosed to be honest! If my back hadnt fecked up I'd have not known!
