A major rant!

First Photobucket did it by holding all my hosted photos hostage until I paid for a "free" subscription. I told them to go pound sand and moved to imgur. It worked well for some time, but now I see that all the photos I posted here, and elsewhere with imgur, are now nothing more than red X's. It take a fair amount of time and effort to create, host and post SOTD and other photos, and to then see all that information and history just go "poof" is just maddening!
The worst is the Belgian Coticule thread. All those photos of my stones gone! Yes, they still exist on my computer, but to go back, find where they are, re-host them and repopulate the thread is just a monumental task. I'll do it, but slowly, and it will take some time!

GGggggggggrrrrrrrrr!

There's got to be a better way!!

Save all the hassle and get an external solid-state HD to store your photos on. Get a second one as a backup as they are inexpensive today even in the terra bit storage range. I put the SOTD pic on my PC and upload it from there. Once that is done, I delete it after I have next week's SOTD done and stored on my PC. No need to store all your photos on your PC or a site that charges you for the service. Photobucket has been emailing me for about 2 years regarding my account. I just delete the emails and they can delete the photos if they wish. I don't know what is stopping them from doing so.

Put the images in your "album" here on the forum.

Eventually they will get trashed from here too, we don't have unlimited storage, hence the need for external hosting sites... I lost loads when Flickr decided to charge....
This is why I use a hosting site.
Storage costs money, and I assume this site is no different. Why take up expensive spasce on a server, when I can host my own. I moved to a paid subscription at ImageShack.
We'll see how long this lasts...

My major rant of the year, I cannot stand this weather we are having, the hottest driest June ever, warmer and drier than 1976, I'm not a fan of warm weather at the best of times Autumn Winter, and early spring I can do, the humidity is killing me, Wales is not supposed to be like this.

Yupper, the weather ain't what it used to be here either. It's been hot and dry here too with some rain just lately. With the rain came humidity and several new forest fires started despite the rain. Let's hope July brings better weather conditions for all.

Re: Bill’s @BlacknTan rant… For what it’s worth, for $2.99 / month I get a huge amount of iCloud storage for photos, etc. I presently have over 15,000 photos stored in the cloud with nary an issue. If you’re an i person it’s a good deal.

Good ol' summertime.

"The humidity will increase later this week pushing heat indices to near 100° by Saturday and between 105-110° on Sunday."

Not a major rant but ……….. why don’t charging cables like usb c and lightning last long ? They always seem to fray where the wire joins the plug !
