Frugality went down the drain

I was interested to see if people stuck to it... I've tried to tell myself I'm going to start religiously working my way through all the razors I own, gradually weaning them down to a rotation of 2/3/4 of each type, DE, GEM, SE, Injector, Straight, but I just don't have the willpower/ability to change my shaving pattern... that said, that could well all change in the next month as a life change means I'll be wanting to be clean shaven at least every other day. There may be hope yet.

It's somewhat stuttering
This year so far I have bought 2 brushes and one soap. Not bad going for me at all. Unfortunately I haven't stuck to one razor/brush/soap, instead reduced the frequency of my shave to approx thrice a week.

I want to sell of at least 10 razors/brushes/soaps just need the time to picture and list them. Ideally reduce my collection to 3 razors/soaps/brushes. One thing I have nailed on the head is being sucked into marketing. I haven't tried/bought any new razors, soaps or brushes (apart from the ATG LE) and I'm still very content with my shaves and bank balance. I really appreciate vintage or 'beginner' products again.

Nice thread and glad I found it. When I got to St Andrews up in Fife in the 90’s a lot of the pursuit was in person or by mail order. Who would ever have thought Dundee would have it’s own brick and mortar! It’s great.

Shavemyface came along followed by other forums and there was that camaraderie. Now the enthusiasm (which might sound odd) comes from what Burgundy said above about a ‘winding down’ stage of the hobby.

I like the 3 razors/soaps/brushes approach Avnish mentions above. The over 65 soaps in the den got depressing and strange and switching razors all the time never helped the shave at all. I won’t get there with brushes but that’s ok.

Down to 3 razors and 5 soaps at present. 5 is a lot. The key for me is a quick exit. Manuel/Jabonman had some scents I liked in stock but I also had that new Wholly Kaw Tempest incoming. Smelled the Tempest, sold and mailed the jar immediately. Did I really want or need it. Not really.

What are your current top 3 razors?

I'm looking to add one, and only one 'high end' to my already small collection of 2 Fatips and a cheap Chinese Tech knock off I use for travel.

I'm down to 2 razors that I use on a regular basis -- 39c and X3. Working my way through a dozen soaps and a dozen creams. Pretty much rely on my 21mm Muhle synth because it fits in all the soap/cream containers. Funny how the quest soon looses its appeal. Sorry, Questers!
