Anyone not get on with Bart's?

Bart's balms seem to be universally loved, but I've tried the lotions samplers and now the Amber & Jasmine balm and they don't initially soothe at all. Do their products not work well for anyone else?

I get 30 minutes of burn with all products that I've tried, then with the lotion, more burn. If I use the balm, after the initial burn, it's pretty good. I know that someone will say it's the scent ingredients that cause it, however I'm not sensitive to any other scents. I really want to like their stuff, but Proraso White and Nivea Sensitive balm do the job a lot better for me

I get burn from Bart's and it is far to oily for my skin; but that I think is just the way it goes rather than a reflection on the ethicacy of the product. Many skin products advise to immediately discontinue if irritation etc. is experienced. I have no problems with some products whilst others do - Sod's law, me thinks :) ...bin it...move on...

No issues here, however I keep balms for the colder months when my skin needs more nourishment. Splashes the rest of the year

Well, good to know that I'm not unique

Will need to find another not too expensive balm to replace it. Time to start shopping again...

I’ll preface by declaring that I’ve never used the stuff, but... are you applying to wet or dry skin? If you’re in the habit of toweling off before applying post-shave, most lotions and potions work best when applied to clean, damp skin.

I rinse my face, then towel, then apply any post-shave, so my face isn't completely dry but a bit damp. I don't think that would affect the reaction I have though.

If the after shave balm I used has any citrus-derivatives, then they will burn for a minute or so. I've gone through Bart's sample collection without undue discomfort. All of them coat my skin -- lovely scents and price.

True, if I order from Maggards

Hadn't heard of their balms. Again, need to get it from Maggards which might take a while, but Uplift and Rain sound nice
I have the Rain, review tomorrow.

I ended up ordering some Lea balm, plus a few other things from Connaughts that ended up costing more than the balm by itself. Oh well...
Good balm, nothing special though.
