I know this is reviving an old thread, but as my "honemeister" didn't live up to his task, and i can't afford to pay to the second one i know, i'm in the process of making another board strop for my red and black H. Linder pastes to try to make my Korean Kitten and Taylor Eye Witness 1000, and glue a layer of 0.5mm felt and a layer of denim/jeans on it, to hopefully make them shave. I also intend to buy a 40 gram pack of 1 and 0.5 micron diamond paste with 4 carats per 100 gram of paste, and some 0.5 micron CrOx and hopefully finer FeOx (iron oxide) powder to make paste with, to apply to some fabric. The intent is to use the black Linder paste after any combo of the above mentioned, before going to the Shell Cordovan paddle strop i made thanks to @BlacknTan ...
Any advice or suggestions?

The only pastes I have any experience with, Sebastian, are the green ChromOx, and T-I White paste. Both produce a harsh edge for me if more than a very few laps. The Thiers-Issard white worked better for me than ChromOx.

I wish I could be of more help..

Hey Jamie,

You've been honing for a very long time, but for the most part it seems like you prefer your synthetic stones over Jnats. I've watched one or two of your videos, and you own a nice Nakayama. How did you like the shave vs some of your synthetic edges? If I'm remembering right, you own that really expensive Suehiro. I think it's a 20k stone, but it might be a 16k, I'm not sure. I think they sell two premium finishing stones now.

So far, I greatly prefer a Jnat edge, much smoother (in my experience) and plenty sharp for me. Thing is, it's not like I own a bunch of premium synthetic stones, so I'm wondering if it's possible to get the edge as as smooth as what a Jnat offers? A friend of mine uses a Shapton Pro 12K, then finishes on a Nakayama, diamond tomo.
