Shaving the neck

I have a similar issue on my neck. I go north to south and then south to north on my whole neck. With regards to the middle, I also have the same issue for the part under my chin as you do. What I have found is I don't need to shave sideways, what makes all the difference is using a razor where the blade has no 'chatter' and the use of an open comb also seems to help (with respect to DE and SE blades). If you move (in my case especially north to south) the razor across the middle and feel serious uncomfortable tension/resistance against the blade, stop and go WTG. You can always use a few lighter passes WTG to get closer and settle on a DFS as opposed to causing nicks. Alternatively a stiffer blade such as a straight will go through it with no issue.

Thanks Nishy, I have a CV Heljestrand on the way which uses Hollow Ground Wedge blades which are going to be honed for me. I've also got a Rolls Razor on the way which has already been scrubbed up and is ready to use. These along with the other SEs I have I am hoping will help with this issue!

I am getting better at going WTG on my neck, even on those areas that I have to go sideways, but it's never truly sideways, always at a slight north to south or south to north angle. I just think it's the way my neck curves, if I try and go truly sideways I get worried the corners of the blade will catch!

If you want to shave sideway on the neck, bullfrog the neck. This is what I do.
