It can take some time depending on hair type and knot measurement, but definitely worth persevering with. I no longer scrub with these brushes instead paint tiny strokes to and fro pushing down on only the white section; if wanting to release more lather. I fear pushing down hard will damage the knot eventually and the backbone can be too 'heavy'.
