A new shaving app for iPhone users (no Android) called 'My Shave Den'.
Heard about it on the Sharpologist Wet Shaving Podcast Network. A great little podcast, airs every couple of weeks.

Since Jan 1 I've been using ShaveBuddy and I've actually enjoyed logging my shaves - to be honest I thought it'd be a pain and just too geeky for me to be arsed enough to do it. The benefit is that my soaps have had better rotation as I can see which haven't been used much and put them on the next to use list.

However, it's very basic and can't be downloaded to manipulate the data.

I've downloaded My Shave Den and it appears more comprehensive: it can export a data file and roulette your shave but all these need the £5 upgrade, or you'll need to upgrade if you want to add more than 5 items per category.

I’ve been using it for the last couple of months and found it great to log my SOTD’s. It’s made it much easier for me to put my razors into a regular rotation and track my soap usage accurately so I use everything I have now almost every month. The best thing is the new blade usage tracker which I always found hard to remember how many uses a blade had in each razor. They’ve been updating it regularly to make updating and adding your soaps and kit much easier. It’s was daunting adding all your kit at first but now after an update you can add soaps and blades as you use them, it means it’s not quite the task it could be when when you use it for the first time.

I felt it was pretty good for the modest cost. Some nice updates have been made too. I tried it briefly more for the inventory aspect than as a shave log. I appreciated that the ability to include a photo was added in an update, but the photo handling could be a bit more flexible. Seems to do well with squarish SOTD setups. Would benefit from some basic editing (at minimum rotation, cropping) and more photos per item. Likewise some additional custom fields would be helpful. Maybe add straights and shavettes as hardware types. Overall though I think it's a quality app.

I’ve downloaded it and upgraded immediately.
I don’t think it’ll be a chore inputting software. It’ll just take time.

I've been using this App all 2022. I like it but the exported file is useless, it just lists the soaps, or brushes separately but not the shaves so I can't export into excel and filter or use the data for any analysis. The other feature I don't like is that it calculates the % usage for the top and bottom 10 'items' rather than the whole collection. For instance my most used brush is the CH3M which was used 39 times in 2022 but it shows it as used 20% of the time rather than the correct / accurate 10%.

I just got the app but cant figure out how to change the type of razor. (DE, Single Edge. etc.) or how to change it from adjustable.
Seems like i can edit like 4 fields (brand, Name, Head type, Handle type) . and not change anything else.
There is an aggression slider that does not work, maybe because it is stuck on adjustable?

am I missing something?


Update) seems displayzoom function in ios settings messed things up
