Maker's Marks

I hate the Maker's Marks that you cannot see. how do you darken them when paint will not stick? use a primer? heat it up? any ideas?

the adoration is all black and filled in the other ones are just barely even where you can see them no black in them at all some of them lightly I was just wondering if they have a paint that sticks to it like a logo on a scale

my photos will never be very good because I can't use my hands that well and I jerk to push the button and if I tell you Siri to do it I can't stay steady that long LOL. sorry

Clean it with lacquer thinner, or naphtha, or something similar, and try Testors model paint.

I’ve never seen a straight razor with paint in the stamping or inscribing - apart from which, applying paint accurately would need a very steady hand. If you wanted to decorate you could try dabbing some gold leaf in and then cleaning up the surface.

both great ideas that I have been throwing around LOL I guess I can always just clean it back off, but why waste the time and material. how do they make their marks black if they don't use paint do they burn it in there when they make it or something? that's just the biggest thing to me, a nice Maker's Mark even if it's a crappy one as long as it looks good

I assume the tangs are stamped at the time of forging. Perhaps not in the same die, but pre heat treatment. The heat treatment/ annealing process will color the stamped areas, and as the rest of the razor is polished, the stamped areas remain dark.

I start out shaky, and it gets worse from there LOL
